Project Description

Royal Brompton hospital is situated in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The hospital is renowned as a national and international leader in the treatment of heart and lung disease.

Project Telsa phase one  consisted of a new Imaging Centre provision that was built between two operational buildings, the Britten Wing and Chelsea Wing of the hospital.

Constructed on the site of an existing car park and single stores Imatron building. The new facility consist of two levels of basement, one floor accommodating a new plantroom and the other floor an imaging department with associated waiting rooms and  MRI suite with the very latest MRI scanner. Two above ground floor levels consisted new X-Ray, TOE and CT scanner facilities. A new  bridge link was installed to connect the new building so the existing Sydney Wing to provide essential connectivity from existing estate to the newly constructed imaging facilities.

SCOPE OF WORKS

Dornan provided labour, materials, equipment, supervision and other resources necessary to carry out the enabling works, installation of both traditional and modularisation of services such as pump skids that were manufactured at Dornan’s design and manufacturing facilities. This was inclusive of design, delivery, installation, testing, commissioning and training was provided for all the new Mechanical and Electrical services inclusive of BMS and public health packages. Throughout the newly constructed facilities existing estate services provision was provided with essential connectivity including recommissioning and testing where necessary.

Dornan identified the key items of Value Engineering to assist in the reduction of costs without reducing the life expectancy, life cycle, functionality or quality of the end product.
