Project Description
The Big Data Institute (BDI) is a spectacular biomedical research facility at Oxford University’s Old Road Campus, accommodating more than 500 scientists on its three storeys, and a dedicated data centre with capacity for 600 trillion computations per second. It’s the largest facility of its kind in the world.
- Design and installation of a combined heat and power system (CHP) which captures energy that would be lost in separate systems
- Installation of 1 kilometre of passive cooling and geothermal heating corridors using natural resources
- Installation of rooftop PV panels to power the BDI’s energy-efficient, suspended ‘Blade 2’ lighting strips
- Major research facility for Oxford University
- ‘Outstanding’ BREEAM rating
- 1km of passive cooling and heating corridors
