Women@Dornan Launch: Building a More Inclusive Future
Last Thursday marked a significant milestone for Dornan as we officially launched the Women@Dornan (W@D) network with an engaging and insightful event in our Cork office. This initiative is dedicated to fostering a more inclusive and supportive workplace, ensuring that all employees – regardless of gender – have the opportunity to grow, thrive, and reach their full potential.
The day began with a coffee morning meet-and-greet in our Head Office in Cork, where our employees had the opportunity to connect with our colleagues from Turner Construction – Christa Andresky, Executive Vice President & CFO, Turner Construction, Jennifer Downey, Director of ESG, Turner Construction, and Kristin Forte, Innovation Project Manager, Turner Construction. This informal setting provided a valuable space for conversation, networking, and discussion on the importance of gender diversity in our industry.
Following the morning session, attendees gathered at the Radisson for a panel discussion featuring David Myers, Group Commercial Director, Dornan, Josephine Kane, Procurement Manager / W@D Chair, Dornan, and Glopet Iziduh, Senior Project Planner / Co-Chair W@D, Dornan. The discussion was shaped by employee-submitted questions, covering key topics such as the long-term vision for the W@D network and how Dornan and Turner can collaborate to drive meaningful progress in gender equity.
Key Insights from the Panel:
- The Future of W@D network: Over the next five years, W@D aims to establish a strong, sustainable network that actively supports career development, mentorship, and leadership opportunities for women across Dornan.
- Collaboration with Turner: Strengthening partnerships between Dornan and Turner will play a key role in sharing best practices, implementing diversity initiatives, and driving industry-wide change.
- The Role of Allies: Achieving true inclusivity requires collective effort. Male allies and leadership support are essential in fostering an environment where diversity is valued and encouraged.
The relaunch of the W@D network is just the beginning of a long-term commitment to creating an equitable workplace. With the enthusiasm and engagement demonstrated at this event, the future of the network looks promising.
